One of my goals is to gain the flexibility to go from standing upright into a full-u backward bend, unassisted, like an acrobat. I’m not there yet, but that may be just a confidence issue; I worry about falling over! Still, I’ve lately been able to bend further backward in my solo dance, and for that I have yoga to thank.
Recently, with the assistance of my yoga teacher, who acted as a brace, I was able to bend back and back and walk my hands down the wall behind me until they reached the floor. I was so surprised that I started giggling and couldn’t get back up again. So I went the other direction: collapsed to the floor and just lay there in a giddy heap.
